A Hike Around the Loch

There is nothing more bracing than a good hike around one of Scotland's many lakes or lochs. Put on a sturdy pair of Adidas trainers and grab a waterproof and hat in case the weather takes a turn for the worse – it can get quite chilly around the ears if you are not well wrapped up!

Hiking really gives you the chance to see Scottish nature at its best. It is a peaceful and leisurely activity and you get a chance to commune with nature. Different plant species which can only be found in Scotland; wildlife and birds.

Away from the main roads and motorways you will get a chance to see a totally different side of Scotland than you do in the towns. Take a picnic with you and weather permitting you will have one of the best lunches ever, overlooking the peaceful calm of the lake.

Make sure that you take a pair of binoculars with you as you never know what birds you will spot, a real bird watcher's delight. If you are really lucky there is even a chance you might spot the legendary monster if you are there at the right time and place!

The beauty of hiking is that it is a form of activity which costs nothing, and offers the keen hiker everything in the way of beauty.
